CO-ED SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL LEAGUE

                                                      BY LAWS-2008

 

1.        Maximum number of players on a team is 25

2.        Number of males in the line up cannot exceed 6 (when using a EH and DH the 7-5 rule applies).Only 6 males can play defense.

3.        Females may be borrowed from another team if necessary to begin the game. (3 needed) (maximum is 2)females can play on more than one team except during playoffs at which time they must designate a team.

4.        Two new balls will be used for each game.   

5.        The game will consist of 7 innings. An official game will be 5 complete innings .4 ˝ innings if home team is leading.

6.        Games will be played on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays to accommodate teams...

7.        A 12 run rule will be in effect after 5 complete innings. 20 run rule after 4 innings.

8.        One umpire will be used for each game.

9.        No Holiday weekend games will be played during the season. Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day.

10.     Uniform rule- identical shirts only. No Metal spikes are allowed.

11.     Maximum number of teams is 16

12.     Number of games played during the season will not be less than 14. Rained out and canceled games will be made up as scheduling permits.

13.     Trophies and or Photo plaques will be awarded to the Division Winners and Play off winners.

14.     The season will begin the first Monday in June (or last Tuesday in May) of each year depending on the # of teams.

15.     A team may play a game with 9 players but no more than 6 can be males. Three (3) females must be in the line up to start the game.

16.     WALK RULE: Use ASA rule in 2007-A walk to a male batter will result in a two base award. The next batter(a female)will bat. EXCEPTION: with two outs, the female batter has the option to walk or bat.

17.     Strike Rule: 2008-The league adopted the MAT RULE. If the ball hits the mat or any portion of Home Plate and the ball has a minimum arc of 6 feet and maximum of 12 feet( when it leaves the pitchers hand)it will be called a strike.

18.     The league will provide scorebooks.

19.     An extra hitter and Designated hitter may be used. 5 females and 7 males. 7 males only when 5 females in lineup.

20.     Any batting order may be used as long as 2 males do not hit back to back during the first 8 spots in the batting order.

21.     Male players must play in at least 6 games to be eligible for playoffs.

22.     Weather permitting; Playoffs will start the first week in August.

23.     The home run rule is voted each year. The current number allowed is 3-American Division 2- National Division. 3 if one division.One Home Run if a third division is formed.

24.     Three females are required to start a game. Two females (maximum) may be borrowed from another team to start the game. Should a female be injured during the game, and unable to play, the team may finish the game with two females.

25.     Re-Entry (per ASA rules) is allowed at any time. Courtesy Runners: The runner will be the person who made the last out. Male runs for male and female for female. Only one courtesy runner is allowed per inning .The batting order can never be changed.

26.     If there is a question regarding a rule not covered by the league rules and by-laws then the ASA rule will be applied.

27.     Any changes in the by-laws require a 2/3rds vote of the league managers.

28.   The one ball one strike rule was eliminated in 2001. Foul ball on a two strike pitch the batter is out.

29.   An eligible player must be 18 years of age as of June 1st of the playing year.

        30.   All games are FLIP Games.

31.   Please check the OFFICIAL PLAYING SCHEDULE on the bulletin board for changes and make up games.

32.  The purpose of the League is to have “fun”. Lets  be competitive but lets have some fun…
